Farewell friend...! But still I believe (Japanese: さらば友よ…！それでもオレは信じてる - Saraba tomo yo...! Soredemo ore wa shinjiteru) is episode 114 of the anime series Naruto. The episode's storyline is from the Sasuke Retrieval manga arc.

Choji attacks Jirobo with his Partial Multi-Size technique, alternately increasing the size of an arm or leg. He punches him, kicks him, then smashes him with his hand. When Jirobo grabs Choji’s enlarged arm and throws him into the air, Choji uses Ultra Multi-Size, increasing his whole body to the size of a giant. He performs a bellyflop on top of Jirobo.
But the Sound ninja isn’t done yet; releasing his curse-seal to Level Two, he lifts Choji off of him with one arm, and uses the other to do a Rising Palm strike, again sending Choji high in the air.
Choji is surprised by Jirobo’s appearance, which has been greatly altered by the Level Two curse-seal. Jirobo's skin turns red and his hair grows longer, along with his eyes turning yellow and bumps appearing on his skin. Jirobo confidently predicts his victory, while Choji is barely able to move because of the pain the special pills are causing him. While the young genin flashes back to his childhood and the first time he met Shikamaru. It was they were playing hide and seek. Choji was following someone but fell back behind of his slow running speed. The seekers throw cardboard shuriken at him. Then he and the person he was following were tied up. Jirobo begins to consume of all Choji's chakra. Jirobo proceeds to beat up and insult Choji by calling him pig, even eating the last of his potato chips.
Choji then remembers about how his classmates won't let him play ninja with them. Shikamaru speaks up that if he is left out that the numbers will be uneven. Shikamaru watches Choji and sees him free a butterfly from a spider's web. Choji tells his dad that everyone in the class thinks the Akimachi's are slow fatties. Shikamaru then quits the game.
Meanwhile, Team Shikamaru is pursuing Sasuke and the remaining three members of the Sound Four. Shikamaru confidently predicts that Choji will beat Jirobo and catch up with them, and carves arrows into the trees at random intervals, indicating their course. He also indulges in his own flashbacks to his first meeting with Choji. Shikamaru follows a butterfly and it leads him to Choji, Shikamaru tells him it's his special seat and asks him if he can sit there. Shikamaru asks him to look at the clouds with him and Choji shares his potato chips with him. They tell each other that they feel that they could get along.
Choji is getting desperate; he knows that if he takes the red pill, the side effects will probably kill him. On the other hand, if he does nothing, Jirobo will definitely kill him. So, he takes the red pill, and the effects are astonishing. All of the excess fat in Choji’s body is instantly converted to chakra, leaving him lean and mean for the first time in his life. Also, two large butterfly wings made of chakra appear on his back ("Choji" means “butterfly”, after all). With his increased strength and speed, Choji quickly beats down Jirobo. Then he says that he will take revenge on him for calling Shikamaru an idiot then uses Butterfly Bullet Bombing; he focuses all his chakra in his left hand and kills the Sound ninja with a final crushing punch to the chest, the punch also makes a giant crater. The Cursed seal disappears from Jirobo.
Afterwards, when the chakra-increasing effects of the red pill have worn off, Choji staggers to his feet and tries to catch up to his friends. Barely able to walk, his vision blurred and tunneling, he follows a chakra butterfly like a will o’the wisp, finding a tree where the rest of the team had carved an arrow and messages encouraging him to follow. One of them reads, “Hurry and come ‘tebayo.” Choji smiles, knowing that it must have come from Naruto. He recollects when his father told him that he would eventually find someone who understood him and then they would be friends. He experiences more flashbacks, him and Naruto eating in class, Iruka screaming after them as Kiba, Shikamaru, Choji, and Naruto escape from his lecture of concentration, The Third catching them eating chips, Team 10 watching Sasuke getting attacked by Naruto, the Ino-Shika-Cho Trio, Choji fighting Dosu, Choji stealing the last potato chip. While thinking to himself "Dad, I made a lot of friends", Choji slumps down at the foot of the tree and passes out.
At the same time, Shikamaru sees a butterfly pass before him. Although he does not say anything to the rest of the team, he has a sinking feeling that Choji will not be catching up anytime soon. The episode ends.
