François Van Der Elst

François Van Der Elst (born Lokeren, December 1, 1954) was a Belgian football International player. He played for R.S.C. Anderlecht and Belgium with which he counts 44 caps and 14 goals. In 1976 he was part of the Anderlecht team that beat West Ham United F.C. in the final of the Cup Winners' Cup 4-2, scoring two of the goals.
The following season of 1976-77 he was the Jupiler League top scorer with 21 goals.
He played some of his football in the U.S.A. with New York Cosmos before making a transfer to West Ham in 1981 for £400,000.
