[edit] Trivia
- Featured at the end of their cover of The Misfits' "Last Caress/Green Hell" is a mock parody of metal legends Iron Maiden's classic hit "Run to the Hills." Iron Maiden responded to this on a B-side cover of the Montrose song entitled "Space Station No. 5". Also at the end of their cover of Discharge's "The More I See", in about the same time structure as "Run to the Hills" can be heard, is a cover of Robin Trower's song, "Bridge of Sighs".
- The track Mercyful Fate is a medley of the Mercyful Fate songs "Satan's Fall", "Curse of the Pharaohs", "A Corpse Without Soul", "Into The Coven", "Evil". It is also Metallica's longest studio song ever recorded.
- Although only listed as "Sabbra Cadabra", the track is actually a medley of Black Sabbath's "Sabbra Cadabra" and "A National Acrobat".
- The track "Tuesday's Gone", was recorded in 1997 with several guest artists, including Pepper Keenan of Corrosion of Conformity, Jerry Cantrell and Sean Kinney of Alice in Chains, John Popper on harmonica and Les Claypool of Primus as Metallica hosted a radio program out of Los Angeles. James is the only member of the band to appear on the track on most of the vocals.
- It was reported that Metallica was somewhat nervous about recording Blue Oyster Cult's "Astronomy".[citation needed]
