[edit] Short bio
After various primary schools in England, I was educated (1959-63) in Nairobi, Kenya and then at Worcester College, Oxford and the University of Sheffield. I spent 30 years working as a librarian, mostly on computer systems (anyone heard of Geac?) and administrative jobs at the University of Leeds, but with a period on secondment to CURL (the Consortium of Research Libraries in the British Isles). I took early retirement in 2001 and now live in central York.
My main leisure interest is opera - see External link below. My Wikipedia Username, for those who don't know, is the French version of the name of the legendary William Tell and the title-character of the opera by Gioacchino Rossini.
I'm also interested in local history (specifically York and Leeds), architecture and townscape, food and drink and all sorts of other stuff.
