Let The Rhythm Hit 'Em is the third album by groundbreaking rap duo Eric B. & Rakim, released in 1990. The album sees the group's sound developing further, with Rakim adopting a deeper, more aggressive tone of voice & more mature serious subject matter. Musically, the production ranges from smoother soulful track's such as "In the Ghetto" to the hard-edge assault of the title track "Let The Rhythm Hit 'Em". Despite the fact that it doesn't boast singles as popular as the duo's previous albums ("Paid in Full" & "Follow the Leader") it is considered by many to be their most coherent album. Rumors persist that most of the album was ghost-produced by the late Paul C & a young Large Professor[citation needed]. The album is dedicated to the memory of Paul C & Rakim's father, as the back cover contains photos of both. The album is one of few that has received a "5 Mic" rating when reviewed in the Source Magazine. In 1998, the album was selected as one of The Source Magazine's 100 Best Rap Albums.
