"Long Hot Summer" was, at the time, Girls Aloud's second lowest charting single to date. It charted at #7 in the UK and #16 in Ireland - marking the first time they'd missed the Top 5 in the UK and the Top 10 in Ireland. It was a feel-good summer song, featuring live songs from their tour as b-sides. In the UK it has sold in excess of 49,000 copies, of which 18,451 in its first week of release.
[edit] Music video

The video for "Long Hot Summer" opens with scenes of the band members wearing overalls working in a garage called "GA Auto".
In accordance with the song's title, it is a hot day, so the girls are attempting to fan themselves off as they get sweatier and dirtier.
Each girl transforms from the overalls to a skimpy clubbing outfit, and the girls proceed to a dance routine as the song concludes.
