"Love Me or Hate Me" (produced by Lukasz "Dr. Luke" Gottwald) is the fifth single from UK hip hop artist Lady Sovereign and the fourth from her debut album Public Warning. The single was confirmed for release by her official website and was released in October 2006 in the US and 29 January 2007 in the UK [1] [2]. The video was premiered in the last week of September. It features Lady Sovereign appearing in tetris style blocks, and acting out certain lyrics of the song.
The song has already started to pick up substantial popularity in the U.S., becoming the first song by a British rap artist to ever reach #1 on MTV's TRL, as well as being heard in a TV spot for Verizon. In addition it debuted at #81 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart, making it Lady Sovereign's first single to chart in the U.S. In 2007, the song debuted at #48 on the UK Singles Chart, later peaking at #26, becoming her highest charting solo hit to date.
The song has also been featured as the theme song for the Oxygen Channel's reality show The Bad Girls Club.
It can also be heard on the Need For Speed: Carbon.
The remix, which is the last track on the album, features Missy Elliott.
