Mario Strikers Charged (マリオストライカーズ チャージド Mario Sutoraikāza Chājido?, known as Mario Strikers Charged Football in Australia [3]) is a soccer video game in development for the Wii. This game was announced at the 2006 Leipzig Games Convention as the sequel to Super Mario Strikers for the Nintendo GameCube, and is due for Australian release on June 7, 2007 [4].
The game will feature multiple stadiums, each with different characteristics and contraptions that affect gameplay. The game will also support the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, through which players can participate in online matches and tournaments.

[edit] Gameplay
All players will have the ability to charge their shots, making them more likely to score a goal. The captains of each team will also be able to perform a Mega Strike. The Mega Strike is similar to the Super Strike in Super Mario Strikers, but with a few twists. Instead of one big shot, a Mega Strike can split up to five individual shots which all fly toward the goal. To defend against the shots, a player must target and block the balls in a goal blocking mini-game with the goalie using the Wii Remote. How many goals a player scores will depend on how many shots the opposing player fails to block.
Other gameplay elements from Super Mario Strikers, such as big hits, dekes, and one-timers will also be used in this game.
[edit] Characters
There will be a total of 12 captains and 8 sidekicks players can choose from to form a five-player team (captain, three sidekicks, and goalie). Unlike in Super Mario Strikers, players will be able to choose more than one kind of sidekick for their team. All characters will have different statistics and abilities. The following characters from the Mario series have been confirmed to appear in the game. Those marked with an asterisk are new characters who were not playable in Super Mario Strikers.

[edit] Featured stadiums
- The Vice (Rated Secure)
- Thunder Island (Rated Lethal)
- Desert Stage
- Lava Stage
Unlike the game's predecessor, the stadiums which the players can play on will have certain gimmicks. Thunder Island has blowing wind and random lightning strikes, which can stun players in their tracks. Other stadiums have obstacles such as Thwomps to make scoring more difficult.
