Maurizio Gasparri

Maurizio Gasparri (Rome, 18th July 1956) is an italian politician.
He has been for a long time a Member of the Italian Parliament for the Alleanza Nazionale political party, he has been Minister of Communications from 2001 to 2005 in the Berlusconi 2nd government. With Ignazio La Russa he leads the AN mainstream, Destra Protagonista. He has also worked as a journalist, becoming editor in chief of the"Secolo d'Italia" a daily political newspaper, of the Movimento Sociale Italiano. In the political party, Gasparri has covered important roles arriving to become nicknamed one of the three AN colonels with Altero Matteoli and Ignazio La Russa, especially after 1988 Gianfranco Fini became the political secretary but in july 2005 he has been discharged from his role after the July 2005 purge. A the Italian Deputee Chamber from 1992, he has obtained confirmation to his place in all successive italian legislations. He has entered in the italian government staff in 1994, when Silvio Berlusconi wanted him as Sottosegretario di Stato al Ministero dell'Interno. In 2001 his political career has reached its highet position when he has been called, always from Berlusconi, to become the Italian Minister of Communication. With this role, Gasparri has pushed for a law that has been known as "legge Gasparri". After the Italian regional elections 2006 chrisis he has been replaced in 25 april 2006 in the Berlusconi 3rd government by Mario Landolfi.
