Molde F.K. is a First Division football club from Molde, Norway. It was founded on June 19, 1911.
Molde's home matches are played at Aker stadion (inaugurated 1998), which holds a record attendance of 13,308 (vs Rosenborg B.K., 1998). Aker stadium's maximum capacity now is 11,167 attendants. The record attendance at the former Molde stadium was 14,793 (vs Moss F.K., 1987). Among their investors is Kjell Inge Røkke. He invests approximately 10-15 million NOK annually, and in January 2006 he invested 10 million NOK for the club to buy players. [1] Former prime minister Kjell Magne Bondevik is among Molde FKs supporters. The club is perhaps most famous for being Manchester United legend, Ole Gunnar Solskjær's, first professional club (where he scored thirty one goals in just one season for the Blå-hvit).
Molde participated in the UEFA Champions League in 1999 (1 win, 5 losses). This year they will play in the UEFA Cup, having won the Norwegian cup last season. On the 25th August, they were drawn to face Rangers F.C. in the UEFA Cup first round. They were knocked out 2-0 on aggregate after holding Rangers to a 0-0 draw at the Aker stadion.
