At least one instance of a NY 69 reassurance shield is posted upside-down. Although incorrect, the shield appears to be correct upon cursory inspection due to the near-symmetrical design of the New York shield. Reversed shields are also common on the "counterpart" of NY 69, New York State Route 96.
