Omega Delta Phi Fraternity, Incorporated (also known as O D Phi) began as a student organization founded by Latinos, but has grown to become one of the most diverse fraternities in the United States. Established November 25, 1987 at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, Omega Delta Phi began with seven members who desired to establish a service/social fraternity for the minority student body at Texas Tech.
The Fraternity pushed itself to serve the needs and concerns of the community. The original intent of the Fraternity was to support students in both the pursuit of a degree through higher education and to experience a fraternal lifestyle. The ideals of Unity, Honesty, Integrity, and Leadership were quickly adopted as the organization's official Sacraments and traditions. During its first five years, the Fraternity began to spread to other colleges and universities, mainly in Texas and the southwest.
Growth continued in the early 1990s with the establishment of chapters in well-known universities including the Texas A&M University System, University of Texas System, New Mexico and Arizona systems. During the mid-to-late 1990s (and because of the increasing popularity of the internet), the Fraternity experienced tremendous growth. Omega Delta Phi chapters began to be founded in larger cities including North Texas ( University of Texas at Arlington and Dallas and Southern Methodist University chapters), Houston and Seattle, Washington. The Fraternity established a short-lived chapter in Mexico City as well. The organization's strengths, primarily those of a pro-multicultural support base and pushing academic success among its members, have helped to continued its growth through the 2000s.
In 2000, Omega Delta Phi founded an alumni association to provide a support group for its alumni base. The Fraternity now has several alumni chapters throughout the U.S. and Mexico. Over the past decade, chapters across the nation have honored and amplified the image of Omega Delta Phi and of their respective universities by making many contributions to their communities and thus uplifting humanity as a whole. The organization continues to grow beyond the southwest and midwest and now has chapters, colonies and clubs in both the west and east coasts. Its success has grown to include being named Fraternity of the Year for 2003, 2004, and 2005 by the National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations.

[edit] History
From http://www.omegadeltaphi.com
Omega Delta Phi Fraternity Inc. began as the brainchild of Founding Father Joe Cereceres. In the fall of 1987, seven distinct Men of Vision came together at Texas Tech University to form a Brotherhood. These seven founders were:
- Joe Cereceres
- Eugene Dominguez
- Arturo Barraza
- Juan Barraza
- Tommy Hurtado
- Chris Forbes
- Elliot Bazan.
Since its beginning in 1987, Omega Delta Phi has been an organization perpetually dedicated to the idea of constant growth and improvement. As such, we face the new challenges of tomorrow with a growing sense of optimism and newfound awareness that "good" will not be good enough. We must work to form an organization which not only challenges the traditional perception of fraternities, but also one that deals with the issues of culture and race for a completely new perspective. Thinking outside the box is no longer an acceptable plateau; the box must now be removed completely
Service is the light that Omega Delta Phi shines upon the world. Many of the chapters have been honored locally and nationally for their continued service to the community for such projects such as tutoring, mentoring, Adopt-A-Highway, and work with the elderly. Our commitment to service continues to be one of the highlights of our organization.
It is in our Accomplishments and desire to serve our community that we the members of Omega Delta Phi pride ourselves. Our ultimate goal is to provide for every man who shares in the goals and visions of Omega Delta Phi, the opportunity to experience our brotherhood, which is our home.
[edit] Mission
The mission of Omega Delta Phi as stated by Founder Joe Cereceres is as follows: “The purpose of this brotherhood, a service/social fraternity dedicated to the needs and concerns of the community shall be to promote and maintain the traditional values of Unity, Honesty, Integrity, and Leadership. This brotherhood was founded in order to provide, to ANY man, a diverse fraternal experience which coincides with a higher education.”
[edit] One Culture, Any Race
This motto accurately describes Omega Delta Phi's philosophy of inclusion. Omega Delta Phi has always found itself in the position of appealing to people of many races and backgrounds. The reason is that our ideals are universal. While other organizations focus on what they have been, Omega Delta Phi focuses on what it is becoming.
Race is a limiting concept that often forces people of a nationality and/or color into preconceived roles and expectations. However, any man will tell you that people of the same nationality can be as different as day and night in their beliefs and ideals. A culture, however, is defined by shared ideals, traditions, and values. Omega Delta Phi Fraternity, Inc. is founded on the concept that in order to truly grow as an individual, one must experience views that challenge existing perceptions to foster growth and enlightenment.
One Culture, any Race. This is a completely new way of looking at ourselves and the world in which we live.
One Culture, any Race. A challenge to the closed-minded to look beyond what they believe to be truth and realize the truth is largely dependent on one's perspective.
One Culture, any Race. A philosophy that suggests the coexistence of various races can be a win-win situation if we are willing to learn from one another.

[edit] Anti-Hazing Policy
Omega Delta Phi was one the first fraternities in NALFO to adopt a strict non-hazing policy which dates back to its inception. Omega Delta Phi does not believe in punishment or recourse in its prospective member process (Pledge Process). Instead they encourage growth and unity among its Prospective Members. All active members and Prospective Members are required to sign an Anti-Hazing contract stipulating that they will not condone or participate in the hazing of any potential members. Prospective Members are also taught what Hazing is and when and how to recognize it and what to do if they witness it. If any member or entity is found in violation of said contract or of the anti-hazing policy they may face expulsion of their membership along with their entity as well. Omega Delta Phi also runs a dry recruitment and pledging process to ensure the safety and respect for its members. Active members are also forbidden any consumption of alcohol while wearing Omega Delta Phi paraphernalia. It's a belief that the letters we wear are sacred and that alcohol and debauchery will only stain and disrespect what the founders worked so hard to achieve. Omega Delta Phi fosters growth and enlightenment in their Prospective Member Program not violence and degradation. Omega Delta Phi sees their members as men who must be respected, thus the saying that many quote, "Some fraternities claim to turn boys into men, we turn men into leaders, visionaries and gentlemen".
