Paul Zacharia
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Paul Zacharia is a Malayalam Short story writer, Novelist and essayist. He was born in 1945 at Urulikkunnam in Kottayam district in Kerala.
His works have been translated into English and other languages. He is a recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Award. Non-conformist and unorthodox to the core, Paul Zacharia's short stories and novels are unconventional in style and theme. He experiments in craft and narrative techniques, and an unsentimental prose.
The Library of Congress has in its collection thirteen books by him.
His criticism of religious fundamentalism and godmen/godwomen like Mata Amritanandamayi has invited the wrath of Hindu fundamentalist organizations such as Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Vishwa Hindu Parishad/VHP.
