[edit] Background
Perak FA was formed in 1921 [1] to participate in the Malaya Cup (later HMS Cup, known today as the Malaysia Cup). They were also one of the founding members of the Malayan Football Association (the predecessor of the modern Football Association of Malaysia).
Perak has been one of the more consistent teams in Malaysian football, being the only team (other than Perlis FA) to have finished in the top four of the Malaysian Super League every year since its inception. Perak considers the 40,000-seat Perak Stadium as its homeground, although it has played some matches in Lumut whenever the Stadium was not available.
Their nickname is Seladang (which means Wild Ox). A favourite tagline of its supporters is Kejor Yeop Kejor which roughly translates to "chase it". Now, the Perak FA board had introduced a new tagline which is " Skor Yob Skor " translates to " goal and goal " based on their mission to score in each match to win.
Perak enjoys a large support base. Their league attendance average for the year 2006 stood at around 16,000. [2]
Perak finished third in the 2006 season of Malaysian Super League despite picking up the least number of points amongst all eight teams for the third round of the league.
Perak FA was knocked out of the 2006 Malaysia Cup competition at semi-final stage, losing to Perlis 2-1 after extra-time.

[edit] Perak Football Chant
Perak Football Fans version of When The Saints Go Marching In.
Ipoh Mali, Ipoh Mali,
Talak Sombong,
Ipoh Mali Talak Sombong,
Ipoh Mali Talak Sombong.
There are rumours that this song actually became famous when Perak won their first Malaysia FA Cup on 1990. Perak is the only team in Malaysian football still singing their own football song in order to keep players motivated.
