The Rienz (Italian: Rienza, German: Rienz) is a river in South Tyrol, Northern Italy. Its source is located at 2,180 m of altitude, in the Dolomites, south to Toblach: next to the latter it enters the Pustertal (Val Pusteria), and, after 90 km, it meets the Eisack in the city of Brixen, at 550 m of altitude.
The main settlement crossed by the Rienz is Bruneck.
The most significant affluents are:
- the Ahr (Aurino), forming the Ahrntal and responsible of 1/3 of the total discharge
- the Gader (Rio Gadera, Val Badia)
- the Antholzerbach (Rio Anterselva)
- the Pragser Bach (Rio Braies)
- the Pfunderer Bach (Rio Fundres)
The maximum discharge of the Rienz is around 60 m³/s.
