Ruben S. Ayala High School

Ruben S. Ayala High School, abbreviated as Ayala High School and AHS, is located in Chino Hills, California and is one of the four regular high schools in the Chino Valley Unified School District. The school was established in 1990 and named after California state senator Ruben S. Ayala. The current principal is Mr. Michael Vaughn.

AHS is divided into quads labelled A through H, each quad designated for a specific subject. However, due to overcrowding, some classes are taught in quads related to other subjects.
- A is the Administration Building
- B mainly holds physical science classrooms with laboratory equipment
- foreign languages are also taught here in portables
- C houses the performing arts classrooms and stage (band, choir, drama)
- D holds vocational classrooms and tools (i.e. metal drills, ceramics, sewing machines and drafting boards)
- E is the library and also holds a computer classroom
- F holds mainly English and history classrooms
- along with various electives
- G is the gymnasium with a wooden basketball court
- Physical Education is taught here
- the tennis courts, swimming pool, baseball field, running track and football field are behind
- the soccer and band field is located behind quads D, E and F
- H holds math and Computer classrooms
- Cafeteria holds food.

There have been two rows of trailer classrooms added to quads B, D, F and H. An additional two rows of classrooms have been added to quad H.

- The bulldog mascot runs around at sports events.
- AHS is a member of the California Interscholastic Federation Sierra League in the Southern Section.
- There is a Football team.
- Ayala High School's Performing Arts program, (including Band, Colorguard, Percussion, and Choir) has also become one of the best in the state and in the nation within the last 5 years.
- Ayala High School's Vocal Ensemble performs regularly at state competitions and festivals. They also tour along with Women's Ensemble and Men's Ensemble each year to various parts of the country such as: Miami, New York City, New Orleans, Houston, San Antonio, and Hawaii.
- Their Varsity Boys basketball team headed by Coach Tom Gregory and Assistant Coach Ken Quinn, had continuously shown representation at CIF Quaterfinals each year. Along with this they were ranked within the top 10 teams in the State of California. They were also ranked within the top 25 teams in the nation.
- Outstanding Aquatics Program, regionally ranked: B/G Water Polo and B/G Swim
- 10 Time All-Sports Champions for the Sierra League
- Averages 15 athletic scholarships each year.
- The dominant varsity wrestling team has won all but 3 league dual matches under Terry Martin's 7+ years of leadership. The wrestling program produced more than half of the school's CIF individual champions as well as secured a team title in 2002. Ayala has consistently taken 2nd in CIF for at least five seasons.
- In 2004 Ayala High School Band and Colorguard placed 12th at Bands of America Grand Nationals in Indianapolis, Indiana.
- Ayala High School Band and Colorguard has placed top 5 in California for the past 5 years.
- There is a Badminton team.

- AHS is locally confused with Arcadia High School and Anaheim High School.
- One of a handful of schools with a "United Student Body" instead of an "Associated Student Body."
- Ayala High School has a nationally known and distinguished Leadership Program.
- Ayala High School also has a nationally recognized Performing Arts Program (Band, Colorguard, Choir) .
- One of the Top Ranked Renaissance Programs in the Nation
- Has a history of students represented on the CASL (California Association of Student Leaders) State Board, along with well-known membership on the CADA (California Association of Directors of Activities) State and Area Boards.
- Bordered by a Catholic church on the north and a Mormon church on the south.
- Graduation had been held at the Arrowhead Pond for several years.
- The class of 2005 was the first class to graduate at the new stadium on the school's football field.
