[edit] Personal life
Moakler was once engaged to boxing great Oscar de la Hoya, with whom she had a daughter Atiana Cecilia de la Hoya (born March 29, 1999). Thereafter she had relationships with actor Dennis Quaid and rock star Billy Idol.
On October 30, 2004, Moakler married Travis Barker, drummer for the band (+44), and formerly of blink-182 and The Transplants. Moakler and Barker starred in the MTV reality show Meet the Barkers, and had two children together - son Landon, (born October 9, 2003) and daughter Alabama (born December 24, 2005).
[edit] Split from Barker
On August 8, 2006, Barker filed for divorce from Moakler. Moakler "officially" commented on her MySpace page, that she was devastated by the demise of her marriage.[1]
Less than a week after filing for divorce, Barker posted negative comments about his estranged wife on his MySpace page.[2] Barker later explained that he was "still absolutely in love" with Moakler, but that he posted the blog about her after "hearing things in the press that Shanna was saying."[3]
Both Moakler and Barker quickly removed the blogs from their pages and remained relatively quiet as to their divorce until reports circulated that Barker was seeing Paris Hilton.[4] Tensions between Hilton and Moakler led to a confrontation at a Los Angeles nightclub (Hyde Lounge) in early October.[5] Hilton and Moakler each accused the other of battery in separate complaints filed with the Los Angeles Police Department.[6] Hilton claimed Moakler had punched her in the jaw and shouted at her, while Moakler said that Stavros Niarchos (Hilton's ex-boyfriend) bent her wrists, poured a drink on her and shoved her down stairs.[7] Ultimately, no charges came out of the altercation.[7]
In November of 2006 Shanna threw herself a "divorce party" in Las Vegas, complete with a divorce cake (see photo) featuring a bloody groom and a blonde, knife-wielding bride.[8] In response, Barker again posted a blog on his MySpace page, this time criticizing Moakler for throwing the party.[9]
[edit] Reconciliation
Despite Moakler and Barker's pending divorce (and the ensuing drama), by early December 2006 they were seen out and about with their children and having romantic dinners together.[10] Reports surfaced in January of 2007 that they were "quietly trying to give it another go," after the couple spent a day together (and were seen holding hands) at Disneyland.[11] Moakler, on her MySpace page, denied the rumors of a reconciliation and explained that she and Barker were "working on being good friends and even better parents."[12]
Moakler and Barker spent Valentine's Day together in Las Vegas, where Barker surprised Moakler with three dozen red roses and bottle of Dom Perignon.[13] Photos of Moakler with Barker prompted speculation that the couple was expecting another child.[14] In late February Moakler again denied that she and her husband were back together, despite evidence to the contrary, telling a reporter: "I am single, . . . Travis and I are not together, . . . and I'm not pregnant, either."[15]
In March of 2007, Moakler revealed that she is still "madly in love" with her husband and that they have reunited.[16] This admission came after the couple was publicly affectionate at a surprise birthday Barker threw for his wife in Miami.[16]
[edit] Acting career
Moakler started her television career in 1996 and her movie career in 1997. One of her biggest roles was that of Officer Monica Harper on Pacific Blue from 1998 to 2000.
Moakler played an air-flight hostess during the final scene of the 1998 movie The Wedding Singer, where her character describes the vulgar way that character Glenn Gulia described her ("Grade A Top Choice Meat").
She also made an appearance in Big Momma's House 2.
Moakler and Barker both appeared in the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation episode, titled "Poppin' Tags" which aired on April 13, 2006. She appeared on the third season of Dancing with the Stars, and was eliminated in week two.
