From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Shidaiqu is a type of Chinese folk/European jazz fusion music that originated in Shanghai, China, in the 1920s.
Shidaiqu was at its height in Hong Kong from the 1930s to the 1960s, when it was replaced by the more popular Cantopop. It is sung in Mandarin. One of the best-known singers of the shidaiqu genre was Li Xiang Lan (Yoshiko Otaka).
