[edit] Biography
The band began with Jeremy Dawson and Gregori Chad Petree in 2002. Both had known each other for years growing up in Shawnee, Oklahoma and worked together on previous music projects such as Cloud2Ground and Slyder. After these projects, they went into hiding for a couple of years but continued making music together, ultimately morphing into their current sound. Carah Faye Charnow (vocals) and Mikey Martin (drums) both joined the band in 2004.
The band quickly gained popularity locally in California as well as on their MySpace web site. In early 2005 they independently released their first album We Are Pilots. They began touring across America that summer and had several different labels interested in signing them. They re-recorded and independently released We Are Pilots again in November 2005, with a revised track list. They continued to tour extensively and were cautious about getting into a record contract until they could get exactly what they wanted. Finally, in June 2006, they signed to Universal Records.
[edit] Current status
The third and final version of We Are Pilots was released by their label on October 17, 2006. The band is currently touring the United States.

[edit] Controversy
Regarding Apple CEO Steve Jobs' recent call for the abolishment of DRM, Jeremy Dawson said, "It's too much right now. They just started the healing process of the digital generation."[1]
In 2006 it was speculated that Carah Faye Charnow was actually the voice heard on Paris Hilton's debut album, Paris. In an MTV interview, Carah explained that this was false and that while she had done some vocals on a dummy track that might go to Paris Hilton, it never went beyond that. [2]
