[edit] History
[edit] Let The Transmitting Begin
Sikth formed in January 2000. They changed around members a lot in the first year, then in March 2001 got in drummer Dan Foord, bassist James Leach and duel vocalist Justin Hill to accompany Guitarists Dan Weller and Pin, with vocalist and lyracist Mikee Goodman. It has stayed the same line up since then.
Their music has been under the scope of many music magazines such as Kerrang! and Metal Hammer, and is a favourite of BBC Radio 1 DJ Mary Anne Hobbs. Their style of music, although obviously being extreme music, is beyond classification. Has been labeled as 'Weirdcore' and 'Math Metal'. They have rapidly gained a reputation as being one of the most cutting edge collectives around.
"Energy has always inspired us," says guitarist Dan Weller, "things that really get you pumping. We play extreme music, sure, but only in the sense that we go to all extremes. If something sounds good, then we'll do it, and that includes beautiful, melodic music, which we all love, too."
[edit] Musical Style
Many of their songs employ multiple changes in meter, key and time signature to enhance their emotive delivery. The music is heavy and complex aswell as melodic. Singer's Mikee Goodman and Justin Hill are very different styles to each other. Sikth are a very querky and different sounding band.
