The Swedish cricket team is the team that represents the country of Sweden in international cricket matches. There are currently 18 clubs playing cricket in the country. [1]
They became an affiliate member of the International Cricket Council in 1997. [2] They took part in the ECC Trophy, a tournament for European affiliate members on two occasions. They reached the semi-finals in 1999, but 2001 saw a downturn in fortunes and they came in last in the ten team tournament. They have not played a competive match since, though they are currently scheduled to take part in Division Five of the European Championship in 2008, where they will play Austria, Switzerland and three teams yet to be announced.
