Taunton High School
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Taunton High School Taunton High School is located within a large, three-floor, interconnected, multi-block complex in the eastern section of the city of Taunton, Massachusetts. It's a four-year urban public high school with an estimated average student enrollment of 2,500 adolescents. It offers many student-oriented services, specialty academic programs, extracurricular clubs, various afterschool programs, a wide array of scholastic sports, etc. The building complex contains a public middle school- Parker and the city's Superintendent of Schools' offices that are interconnected with the high school and of one another. It is known as the heart of Taunton, where most of the teenagers or upcoming freshmen decide to go. The school is set into four different “houses” in which different classes are held, along with a headmaster’s office in each, and the principal’s office-Mr. Matthew Mattos, dead in the middle. “A-House” is where Parker Middle School is located, and no high school student is allowed in that section of the school, which coincides with the middle school students not allowed in the high school section. “B, C, and D-Houses” are for the high school students and are organized into different class sections: languages, math, child care, industrial technilogy, science, history, and english are all set in alike areas. The headmaster’s for each office take care of typical situations that high school students come across before it reaches the principals hands’: fights, absencies or tardiness, skipping class, etc. Mr. Kevin Brennan is the advisor for students with last names from A-E. Mr. Michael Byron deals with students with last names from F-N, and Mrs. Alexandra Cappiello helps students with last names from O-Z. Class times are set into “A,B,C, and D” blocks. A block is from 7:38am-9:08 am. Giving you a couple minutes to get to your locker and your next class, B block goes from 9:12am-10:36am. C block is the period for lunch which goes: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th lunch. Each giving you about 20 mintues to eat. C block ranges from 10:40am-12:32pm, but since you have a lunch scheduled in there, the timing for class is the same as all the others. D block, is the last class of the day and goes from 12:36pm-2:00pm. Once that bell for 2:00 rings, students can either stay after for some needed help, get ready for sports, head home, or do what most high school students do-and hang out in the parking lot to talk to your friends you hadn’t seen all day. Known to the students, the two parking lots they are allowed to park in are, “The Jock Lot” and “The Burn-out Lot”, both are pretty self explanitory. The names of each lot has been carried on for years “The Jock Lot” being right near the gym and “The Burn-out Lot being a little bit further from the school, but easier to leave the premises. Once Spring starts, a Mr. Goody truck always arrives in “The Jock Lot” and becomes the highlight of a students afternoon. Taunton High School is a place where friendships are made, relationships are discovered, and drama is declared! It holds several cycles of love, fun, hate, and “the best four years” of someones’ life, and you can’t do anything else but love it. Taunton High School is an unforgetable landmark that has been around for years, and will most likely remain there for a couple more decades! So send your child there for love, laughter, and make them happy!
