Template talk:TES-races
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
There is no such thing as an Akaviri race. Akaviri refers to all the inhabitants of Akavir and none of them are mer or men. Akaviri should be put into the Other section.
- Well, there is no such thing a Mer race, too. --Koveras

No, there isn't. I don't think anyone ever said there was. RebornSentinal 15:06, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Redguards
They are not humans. They are not humans. They are not humans. How many times do I have to repeat myself? The humans are only those races that come or descend from Atmora: Nords, Imperials, and Bretons. The Redguards are different folks - they come from Yokuda. Just like the Mer from Aldmeris and Akaviri from Akavir. --Koveras 08:08, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
-- Uh, aren't they still physiologically human? 156.34.4.149 23:37, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

- In fantasy worlds, the genealogy and origins is usually more important than anatomical structure. And, except for the differenly shaped ears, Mer are also quite similar to, say, Imperials but they are still considered a different race. :) --Koveras

- Other Wikis list them as human. Is there a source that certifies that only Atmorans are considered human? I assumed that the term "human" in TES lore was mostly a physiological distinction that included, for example, Bretons, and Redguards. Sort of like the term "elf," which may refer to an Akavir or Aldmer. So, perhaps we've corrected the template by removing human as a race, but I still think Redguards are in fact human.--66.0.121.196 14:50, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

- This discussion is already outdated, since we have already agreed on using more specific terms (in this case, Atmorans and Yokudans) rather than general humans. IMHO that resolved the dispute and I think, it's better to leave it this way and concentrate on writing and expanding newer articles. --Koveras

[edit] Khajiit
It is stated in Mer (Elder Scrolls) article, that Khadjiit are of Elven descent. Should we put them into mer row, then? Because Breton have some Mer blood in them, too, yet they are more Humans than Elves. --Koveras 09:18, 2 April 2006 (UTC)
- The accompanying material to Oblivion indicates that they are most likely a beast race and that the claims that they are elven are false. Which reminds me: shouldn't we have a category for beast races (khajiit, argonian, dremora, sload) and divine (aedra, daedra)? --66.0.121.196 22:10, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
You mean something like this:
The Elder Scrolls races | |
---|---|
Mer: | Altmer | Ayleid | Bosmer | Chimer | Dunmer | Dwemer | Falmer | Maormer | Orsimer (Orcs) |
Humans: | Breton (half-elves) | Imperial | Nord |
Akaviri: | Ka Po' Tun | Kamal | Tsaesci | Tang Mo |
Divine races: | Aedra | Daedra | Dremora |
Beast races: | Argonian | Khajiit | Sload |
Other: | Hist | Redguard |
I think it's a good idea IMHO. --Koveras 10:54, 5 April 2006 (UTC)
