B In The Mix: The Remixes is the first remix album from Britney Spears. It was released in the U.S. on November 22, 2005.
B in the Mix sold about 14,000 copies its first week in stores, far fewer than what is typical for Spears' recordings. It is normally attributed to the fact that it had not been promoted at all, and that Spears was still recovering from her pregnancy, as she had given birth to her first son Sean Preston only two months prior.
It contains remixes of Spears' biggest hits, from "...Baby One More Time" to "Toxic", and also a remix (two for the Japanese edition) of her newest single, "Someday (I Will Understand)", originally a piano ballad that was an ode to the then-unborn Sean. It also contains a new song, "And Then We Kiss". "And Then We Kiss" was released in Asia only, where it charted in several countries (reaching #1 in the Philippines, where all previous Spears singles except "Someday" did so as well). The song surprisingly appeared on Billboard's Hot Dance Airplay chart at a very impressive #15, despite the fact that the song was not even officially released in the U.S., only for digital download.

[edit] Chart performance
Due to the entire lack of promotion, the album failed to crack the top one-hundred of the U.S. Billboard 200. B in the Mix debuted at number 134 on the chart, selling 14,077 copies in its first week of release. The promo single 'And Then We Kiss' also received heavy airplay in Europe. The album also charted within the Top 40 in Mexico with 50,000 copies being shipped (earning a Gold certification), but the actual sales are not known.

[edit] Extended Copy ProtectionIn November 2005, it was revealed that Sony BMG was distributing albums with Extended Copy Protection or XCP, a controversial feature that automatically installed rootkit software on any Microsoft Windows machine upon insertion of the disc. In addition to preventing the CD's contents from being copied, it was also revealed that the software reported the users' listening habits back to Sony and also exposed the computer to malicious attacks that exploited insecure features of the rootkit software. Though Sony refused to release a list of the affected CDs, the Electronic Frontier Foundation identified B in the Mix: The Remixes as one of the discs with the invasive software. [edit] References
