Talk:The Seven Cities of Gold (video game)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
First, I'm in no way trying to demphasize the importance that the video game The Seven Cities of Gold might have had on game programming, its history, culture, etc. Quite frankly I love computer games too and im a computer engineering major. However, I'm also a history buff and though i know less about pre 20th century history I do know enough that The Seven Cities of Gold has a greater significance from a historical perspective than simply being a computer game. Starting in the 1500's when the exploration of the New World was in it's infancy many European explorers purpose for making the perilous trip across the Atlantic was in the search of the fabled seven Cities of Gold. The supposed existence of such cities led to men leading their whole lives and ultimately dying for the sole purpose of find these cities and they certainly played a signifcant role in the exploration of the Americas. I really think its necessary to add an alternate entry to reflect this other meaning, aside from the above I dont know anything abou this topic, so hopefully someone else will see this and do a more complete entry, or if i find the time i might take a crack at writing a complete entry.
- You may wish to make this historical entry under the Cibola article. The actual hunt for the real Seven Cities of gold has little to do with the video game. --WillDarlock 21:07, 5 Feb 2005 (UTC)
