The Silence is a British hip-hop music producer, writer and remixer.
The Silence started as a bassist and eventually moved to sampling as a quick and inexpensive way of producing professional sounding music without the need for professional studio time. He moved into creating his unique style of hip-hop from piecing together old Classical and Jazz records he was able to buy or borrow from friends. Mix-tapes of his music started spreading around London and in April 2001 was approached by rapper Orifice Vulgatron (then MC Drop) and producer Dag Nabbit with the aim to start up a UK based hip-hop record label. The group founded Dented Records which is now home to, amongst others, the mighty Hip Hop crew: Foreign Beggars.
The Silence continues to produce a large quantity of music for film and television - credits including the BBC, Channel 4, Extreme Sports Channel, Rip Curl, Sketchers and Oakley. His work with underground artists remains important to him and has recently worked with the critically acclaimed rap-group Stone Circle as guest producer on their debut album (Social Misfits Records). Other artists he is currently working with include DJ Natty, Flict, Ti1 and Mic Concise.
He is currently producing alongside legendary producer/engineer Tony Platt (Bob Marley, AC/DC, Iron Maiden etc) on the band: Second Person's second album (under the working title: The Elements).
