Three Days Grace (also known as 3DG or TDG) is a Canadian alternative metal / post-grunge band formed in 1997.[2] The band used to be named "Groundswell" and consists of members Adam Gontier, Neil Sanderson, Brad Walst and Barry Stock.

History
Originally formed as a quintet in 1992 under the name "Groundswell",[3] they changed their name to Three Days Grace and became a trio in 1997.[2] The group moved from Norwood to Toronto and met producer Gavin Brown,[3] formerly of the band Big Sugar. Brown helped produce their self-titled debut album, Three Days Grace, which was released in 2003; it reached the top ten of the American albums chart, the top 100 of the Canadian Billboard 200 albums chart, and number-one on Billboard's Top Heatseekers chart. Upon completion of the album the band recruited Stock to help on lead guitar to give Adam breathing room on stage and on tour.[2] The album's lead single, I Hate (Everything About You), reached number one on the US Modern Rock, and Mainstream Rock charts and number two on the Canadian Rock charts. The second single Just Like You, gave the group a second number-one in America and also hit number one on rock charts in Canada, their third single, Home was also a hit, charting at #2 on the US Modern Rock chart, and was the second most played Active Rock song of 2005. A fourth single, "Wake Up," was only released in Canada and also achieved success on the Canadian Rock chart. Videos for the first three singles were widely played on MTV, MTV2, Muchmusic and Fuse.
Brown won a Juno Award in 2004 for his production on the album and his work on Try Honesty by the band Billy Talent. Three Days Grace was also nominated for best New Group Of The Year[4] but lost to Billy Talent.
On March 31, 2006, the band released their first single off of their album One-X entitled "Animal I Have Become," which managed to reach number one on both the US Modern Rock[3] and US Mainstream Rock. One-X was released on June 13, 2006, and landed at #5 on the U.S. Billboard 200.[3] In the record's first week, it sold over 78,000 copies. The album's second single, "Pain", was also released topping the Billboard Mainstream Rock Charts in December of 2006 and the Modern Rock Tracks Chart in Feburary of 2007. Never Too Late will be released as a single, along with its music video in March of 2007.
Three Days Grace will headline a 9-show tour starting in Fayetteville, Arkansas on April 18th,2007 and ending in Tampa, Florida on April 29th, 2007. The band is co-headlining with Puddle of Mudd, Saliva, and Buckcherry. More shows are expected to be announced.

Media features
- The songs Animal I Have Become and "Riot" are featured in the video game WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2007.
- The song I Hate (Everything About You) was featured in the game NASCAR Thunder 2004.
- The band has appeared on CBS in several forms. The song Pain was featured as a background song for a commercial of the show "Criminal Minds" as well as the song "Riot" being played on a commercial for the show "The Unit." They also have appeared as special guests on the show "Ghost Whisperer."
- The band appeared in the film Raise Your Voice performing the unreleased song "Are You Ready?" which also appears on the soundtrack. The reason for the appearance is that allegedly star Hilary Duff is a big fan of the band.
- The band did a remix of the song Just Like You with rapper Bonecrusher for the XXX: State of the Union soundtrack. Bonecrusher had previously done a rock duet with Fozzy.
- Never Too Late was played during highlights before kickoff of the Philadelphia Eagles/New Orleans Saints NFL Playoff Game.
