[edit] History
Trapt formed in 1995 with Chris Brown on vocals, Simon Ormandy playing guitar, Peter Charrell on bass, and David Stege playing the drums. Shortly after, they recorded two albums (Amalgamation and Glimpse) to sell when they played at local venues. However, the band received a poor response which eventually resulted in Stege leaving the band. [2]
The band proceeded to sign with Warner Bros. Records and started recording their debut album, with the help of Robin Diaz replacing Stege on the drums (Diaz was eventually replaced by their current drummer, Aaron Montgomery). On November 22, 2002 the band released the self-titled Trapt which produced a total of three singles. "Headstrong" was the first, and it reached #1 on both the US Modern Rock and Us Mainstream Rock charts, as well as #16 on the US Hot 100, marking their most successful single to date, and becoming the theme song for WWE Bad Blood during June 2003. The second single from the album, "Still Frame", also managed to achieve #1 spot on the US Mainstream Rock chart, but failed to do as well on the other two charts. The third single, "Echo" (whose video had an appearance from Michelle Trachtenberg) did best on the US Modern Rock chart, achieving #10. The Trapt album was certified as platinum status by the RIAA.
The next release by the band after their debut album was a three-track EP (released March 30, 2004) that included live versions of the "Made Of Glass" and "Echo" tracks, as well as a previously unheard track called "Promise".
Their second full length album was called "Someone In Control", released September 13, 2005. It produced another three singles for the band, "Stand Up", "Waiting" and "Disconnected (Out Of Touch)". While the singles didn't do as well as the ones released from the first album, "Stand Up" still reached #4 on the US Mainstream Rock chart.
At the moment, Trapt are writing new tracks for what will be their third album, which is scheduled for recording in early 2007.
