Talk:Vilayat Khan
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Please do not add any Musician Listings to this great artists page...Let his name stand alone..In memorium to him and his achievements...And DO NOT use it for SELF advertisement.
- I fail to see how that is relavant. The point of Wikipedia is to connect one thing to another, therefore, it is more than appropriate to list other musicians. Also, Wikipedia is not a memorial or obituary, it is an encyclopedia. Please be more considerate of that. Sasquatcht|c 23:47, 21 October 2005 (UTC)
> Can you please explain Ravi Shankar's sitar ...
Do you think that belongs on the Vilayat Khan page? Ravi had a bass string put on his sitar, he had a top gourd and an open jawari (bridge) (which makes the buzzing sound).
Yes, it does. Because the author intended to compare Ravi Shankar and Vilayat Khan's sitars, and only ends up giving a description of Vilayat Khan's. That is one-sided and leaves the reader curious. A description of Ravis sitar in this context would further illustrate the philosophical and playing differences of the two most important sitars of the 20th century.
