Werfen

Werfen is a town about 50 km south of Salzburg in Austria. It is located at , in the Pongau region, with a population of about 3,500. The most known attractions are the Eisriesenwelt (the biggest ice-cave in the world) and Burg Hohenwerfen (the medieval castle where the movie Where Eagles Dare was recorded). Many scenes of the film The Sound of Music where shot here.
