Charlotte's Web 2: Wilbur's Great Adventure
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Charlotte's Web 2: Wilbur's Great Adventure is a 2003 direct-to-video animated film, and a sequel to the 1973 film Charlotte's Web. It was produced by Paramount Pictures, Universal Animation Studios, and Nickelodeon; and distributed by Paramount Home Entertainment in North America and Universal Studios Home Entertainment overseas.
[edit] Plot and Synopsis
The film opens up in springtime, about a year after Charlotte has passed on. Charlotte's three daughters, Joy, Arania and Nelly, are now in the stages of adulthood, with Wilbur serving as a companion and mentor.
During this time, Wilbur makes a friend in a character called Cardigan, a newborn lamb that is looked down upon by the other lambs and younger sheep of his flock because he has black wool. In a kindly gesture (similar to how Charlotte befriended Wilbur a few years ago), Wilbur takes Cardigan under his wing and shows him, the farm, the ways of animal life, and dangers to look out for.
However, after only a few weeks of being friends, Wilbur and Cardigan's friendship is threatened when a farmer just down the road from the Zuckerman farm buys Cardigan to turn his wool into a coat. Determined not to let his bond with Cardigan be severed, Wilbur sets out with Joy, Arania and Nelly (as well as Templeton the Rat) to find Cardigan and steal him back to the Zuckermans'. But is it as easy as it seems to find Cardigan and get him back?
[edit] Criticism
Charlotte's Web 2 was received poorly by some viewers, who considered the movie inferior to the original 1973 film. Specific criticisms included the fact that none of the voice actors from the original 1973 film were involved, the idea of Wilbur having to take into his care a little lamb who can't stand up to bullying, and relatively poor songs and animation.
