National University of Singapore (Abbreviation: NUS; yksinkertaistetut merkit: 新加坡国立大学; pinyin: Xīnjiāpō Guólì Dàxué; Abbreviated 国大; Malay: Universiti Nasional Singapura; Tamil: சிங்கப்பூர் ேதசிய பல்கலைக்கலகம்) on Singaporen vanhin yliopisto, ja on pysynyt maan suurimpana mitattaessa opiskelijoina ja tarjottuina ohjelmina. Se on tutkimuspainotteinen yliopisto on vuodesta 2006 lähtien ollut non-profit yliopisto.

Yliopiston Kent Ridge campus sijaitsee kaakkois-Singaporessa Kent Ridgessä, ympärillään Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE), Clementi Road, Buona Vista Road ja Kent Ridge Park. Se levittäytyy noin 150 hehtaarin alueelle. Bukit Timah kampus ylläpitää sen lakihenkilöstöä, kun taas Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School Singapore on sijoitettu Outram kampukselle.

Maailman areenalla NUS on aktiivisse roolissa yhteistyökumppanuuksien ja allianssien kanssa toimien mm. sihteerinä Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) -yhteisössä, olemalla Universitas 21:n perustajajäsen , sekä jäsenenä yhteisöissä International Alliance of Research Universities (IARU) ja Shanghai, Seoul, Singapore University Alliance (S3UA).

Yliopiston juuret juontavat The Straits Settlements:n ja Federated Malay States Government Medical School:n perustamiselle vuodelle 1905. Tämä oli unelmien täyttymys kaupungin 1823 perustaneelle Sir Thomas Stamford Rafflesille. Sen nimeksi muutettiin 1912 King Edward VII Medical School in 1921 King Edward VII College of Medicine.

Vuonna 1929 Raffles College perustettiin tukemaan taide ja sosiaaliaineita kolmannen asteen singaporelaisille opiskelijoille, ja kaksi vuosikymmentä myöhemmin fuusioituaan King Edward VII College of Medicine siitä muodostui University of Malaya, 8 Lokakuuta 1949. University of Malaya jaettiin uudestaan 1959 kahdeksi divisioonaksi, University of Malaya in [Kuala Lumpur]] ja University of Malaya Singapore. Singaporen yksikkö erosi vuonna 1962 muodostaen University of Singapore:n.

NUS tarjoaa lukukausista koostuvan modulaarin systeemin kurssien läpikäymiseksi. Se pohjautuu osaksi sekä Brittiläistä systeemiä, jossa johtuvat pienryhmä opetustekniikka että amerikkalaista opetusmetodia krediitteineen. Opiskelija voi siirtyä eri kurssien välillä ensimmäisten kahden lukukaudensa aikana, listautua eri aineiden yhteisiin moduuleihin tai ottaa vapaavalintaisia kursseja eri aineista. Muista täydentäviä aloitteita ovat mm. kaksoistutkinto seuraavissa yhdistelmissä: insinööri sekä taide ja sosiaaliaineet; laki sekä taide ja sosiaaliaineet; kauppatieteet ja insinööri; kauppatieteet ja laki.

Yliopisto tarjoaa 27 yksittäistutkintoa undergraduate sekä 115 masters, doctoral and graduate diplomi ohjelmaa yhteistyössä 12 pääaineen kanssa.

Kent Ridge Hall

NUSilla on 6 Halls of Residence:ä noin 3000 henkilöstölle. Ne sijaitsevat eri alueilla kampusta ja ovat tunnettuja vaihtelevista Co-Curricular Activities (CCA), rikkaasta historiastaan ja kulttuuristaan. Jokaisella niistä on Senior Common Room Committee (SCRC), joka koostuu henkilökunnasta (Resident Fellows).

Kuusi Halls of Residenceä ovat:

NUS also has 3 Student Residences with clusters of 11 to 15 single rooms with their own kitchen and bathroom facilities. Kitchen and dining areas are equipped with basic cooking appliances. The cluster concept allows students to experience independent living while offering excellent opportunities for close interaction among cluster residents.

Each residence has a team of Resident Assistants (senior students) and Resident Advisors (either an academic or non-academic staff) to assist with any concerns that students may have. The 3 Student Residences are:

Prince George's Park Residences (2,854 single)
Ridge View Residences (593 single; 72 double)
