The Birthday Massacre est un groupe de synth rock avec certaines influences métal, basé à Toronto, Canada. Le groupe s'est formé en 2000, connu à l'époque sous le nom de Imagica. Ils ont développé une musique atmosphérique très marquée et une imagerie fantastique et féerique s'appuyant notamment sur des atmosphères nocturnes et champêtres.
