Jörg Michael è nato il 27 marzo 1963 in Germania ed è il batterista della band finlandese power metal Stratovarius.

Fin dai primi anni di esibizioni, Jorg ha mostrato nuovi sound e nuovi stili di esecuzione del suo strumento. Dopo aver avuto brevi storie discografiche con varie band (il primo album da lui pubblicato è stato "Prayers of Steel" con gli Avenger (che divennero i Rage di Peavey Wagner) nel 1995 è entrato a far parte dei Stratovarius di cui è ancora membro.

Il suo stile è molto veloce e tecnico;le sue esecuzioni sono caratterizzate da continui cambi di tempo e da un uso estenuante della doppia cassa.
