The Church of England is a church in England, with its head being the English monarch (who is Elizabeth II). It is a mother church of the Anglican Communion.
[edit] History
The Anglican Church was created by Henry VIII in 1538. Henry VIII was married to Catherine of Aragon, but requested an annulment from the Catholic Church. When the annulment was denied, Henry VIII used his position as King to separate the Church of England from the Catholic Church, thus creating the Anglican Church.
