Gamma ray
From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Gamma rays have the smallest wavelength out of all seven waves on the Electromagnetic spectrum. As gamma rays have the smallest wavelength, it also means there are more of them. Gamma rays are produced by radiation.
[edit] Gamma Rays in Medicine
Since gamma rays have the smallest wavelength and there is more of them, gamma rays can easily go through thick materials. Gamma rays can also go through the skin to kill cells, such as cancerous cells.
Doctors use certain machines which produce gamma rays in hospitals to treat cancer patients. Although using gamma rays cannot cure cancer fully, it can help greatly.
