The javelin throw is a sport. It is often part of track and field.
Javelin is a upgrade of the spear that was a weapon. Spear was of wood with ironjag, but now it is in metal, fiberglass, and sometimes carbon fiber. There is many athletes that has thrown javlin, it has been a part in the Olympics since 1908. Javelin is a sport that isn’t the most popular sport in track. There are not so many athletes throwing javelin in the world at the pro level, but very many under the pro’s in USA. So it is a popular sport in USA, but you don’t have heard about it. The man who has the worlds record in javelin for men is Jan Zelezni from the Czech Republic, he has thrown 98,48 meters. And for women it is Osledys Menedez from Cuba has thrown 71.70 meters. The next man at the topp 3 is Aki Parviainen from Finland, 93.09, then at third place Sergey Makarov from Russia with; 91.61 meters.
Andreas Thorkilsen who is a world known man from Norway that is a pro javelinthrower is on a really good 6 place with 91.69 meters.
