Åslaug Haga

Åslaug Haga (born 1959 in Nes, Akershus) is a Norwegian politician. She has been the leader of the Center Party (Senterpartiet) since 2003. She served as Minister for Cultural Affairs in 1999–2000. Following the success of the Red-Green Coalition in the 2005 parliamentary elections, Haga succeeded Erna Solberg as Minister for Local Municipalities and Regional Development in the second cabinet Stoltenberg.
Åslaug Haga has, on behalf of the Center Party, made it clear that it is not in their interest to begin talks regarding EU membership as long as they are part of government. During the 2005 French and Dutch referendums on the EU constitutional treaty, her enthusiastic cheering as the French and Dutch popular votes rejected the constitutional treaty made national television.
