3:10 to Yuma is a remake of the 1957 classic movie of the same name. It is being directed by James Mangold for a 2007 release. Stuart Beattie rewrote the original script by Derek Haas and Michael Brandt. Tom Cruise at one time expressed an interest in the lead role of Ben Wade, but he dropped out when the film went into turnaround. Eric Bana also considering getting involved but dropped out.[1] IMDb now lists Russell Crowe as Ben Wade and Christian Bale as the small-time rancher Dan Evans. Filming was on track for a fall 2006 shoot. It is currently scheduled to release on October 5th, 2007.

[edit] Synopsis
After outlaw leader Ben Wade is captured in a small town, his gang continue to threaten. Small-time rancher Dan Evans is persuaded to take Wade in secret to the nearest town with a railway station to await the train to the court at Yuma. Once the two are holed up in the hotel to wait it becomes apparent the secret is out, and a battle of wills and guns starts.

According to Variety Magazine, Peter Fonda, Gretchen Mol, Dallas Roberts, Ben Foster and Vinessa Shaw had all signed on to play roles in the upcoming film by September 29, 2006.
