The Grey Cup game was played on artificial turf for the first time in Vancouver. The B.C. Lions also wore special "CCC" helmets to commemorate the Canadian Confederation Centennial of British Columbia-when the province entered into Canadian Confederation, 100 years ago, in 1871. The flower on the centre of the "CCC" is the pacific dogwood, the official provincial flower of British Columbia.
