[edit] Draft Trivia
- This draft marks the first time the NBA Draft Lottery was introduced it was put into place so teams did not have to intentionally lose games to receive the number one pick.
- Arvydas Sabonis did not "officially" join the Portland Trail Blazers in 1985, he would finally arrive in the 1986 draft. He did not begin playing in the NBA until 1995.
- Some sportswriters such as Bill Simmons have alleged that David Stern fixed the draft to grant the New York Knicks the first pick and make the big market franchise competitive again.
