"Stressed Out" (1996) |
"1nce Again" was the first single from A Tribe Called Quest's fourth album Beats, Rhymes and Life. It contains a sample of "I'm Your Pal" by The Gary Burton Quartet and the chorus is sung by Tammy Lucas. This song was also the first ATCQ single to feature production by the late great Jay Dee. Certain lyrics have a resemblance to "Check the Rhime", a previous single of the group's second album The Low End Theory. Despite the album's lack of positive reviews, this song was actually a hit, as was "Stressed Out".
[edit] Music video
The music video starts off with the group performing the "Check The Rhime" video with a crowd cheering, but then Phife notices that the police have come to arrest them, so the group runs into the cleaner's store to hide. The police chase after them. Throughout the video, the group is running through different sections of the store while rapping; Tammy Lucas is there, singing the chorus. Soon the cops see the group running away up the stairs. The group is on the roof at night, and they jump off the building as the video ends.
