Stressed Out was the second single from A Tribe Called Quest' s fourth album Beats, Rhymes and Life. Though the album was not a success this song was a fairly popular song, and features Faith Evans on the chorus.
[edit] Music Video
The video for the song mainly narrated through song. It opens in a red room where the group are trapped in feeling stressed out. Then it is at a dice game that Consequence and Q-tip are about to play each other at. But then two men start a conflict and then a car shows up and everybody flees. And during the chorus Faith Evans is in blue, red, and black rooms. And shows a man who washes dishes at a restaurant. Then after an employee brings in another load and so stressed out that he pushes the extra load down to the floor. Then Phife raps. Then shows a man with money problems trying to pay bills and has a pregnant wife and has several kids to begin with. Then the man who was washing dishes is visited by his boss and he says he is fed up with the way he washes dishes. And the employee is so stressed out that he knocks down all of the dishes there. when Faith says "We gon' make it" the man with money problems and his family are throwing a birthday party assuring that they will be okay. Then this is the worst grammar of all time.
[edit] Trivia
- This video and Hot Sex were not on the group's video anthology DVD for clearance reasons. Stressed Out beacuse Faith Evans' appearance could not be cleared, and Hot Sex because the footage from the movie "Boomerang" would have been much too expensive to clear.
