[edit] Features
The DVDs usually include inserts with reproductions of the movie poster as well as trivia bits. The collection is notable for having a very high production quality with plenty of extras for every movie, including commentaries, trailers, newsreel footage, biographical features, and outtakes. The films are usually also shown with digitally restored sound and visuals.
[edit] Pricing
The DVDs in the series, unlike those in many other premium collections, tend to be fairly inexpensive, with an SRP of $14.99 (US). Copies of some of them, such as The Day the Earth Stood Still can be found for under $10 at retail stores.
[edit] Spinoffs
The success of the series has spawned three other DVD lines:

Copies can now be found in the Studio Classics: Best Picture Collection boxset, which also contains All About Eve, Gentleman's Agreement, and How Green Was My Valley.
Several DVDs released were double-sided, either to offer alternate versions of the film (My Darling Clementine and In Old Chicago), or to house the extras such as trailers, movietone newsreels, and documentaries, that otherwise couldn't fit with the film on one side of the disc (The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Diary of Anne Frank, Peyton Place, and The Grapes of Wrath).
The only DVD to be taken out of print is The Mark of Zorro in the fall of 2005; it was replaced by a "Special Edition" that offered the same extras as the Studio Classics release, but with a colorized version of the film on the flipside of the disc.
