The Acura CSX is an Acura badged version of the Japanese 2006 Honda Civic that replaces the Acura EL as Acura's entry-level luxury car. It is essentially a luxury version of the Honda Civic, with extra length added to it. It is only available in Canada. Like the EL, it is built in Alliston, Ontario, Canada. Competitors for the Acura CSX are the Mercedes-Benz B-Class, Volvo C30/S40 Volkswagen Jetta, Mini Cooper, Saab 9-2X, Audi A3, Nissan Sentra and the Subaru Impreza. And the CSX isn't to be confused with the Shelby CSX. The CSX went on sale in November 2005 as a 2006 model.
The CSX also carries over features from the JDM Civic, most notably the 2.0 L DOHC i-VTEC engine rated at 155 hp @ 6000 rpm and 139 ft·lbf @ 4500 rpm. Also carried over from the JDM Civic are the front and rear fascias and the steering wheel (also used in the USDM Civic Si and Euro Civic). Other features include paddle shifters as an option for automatic transmission models, leather interior, heated front seats for the Premium model, in-dash 6 CD changer on the Premium model (without navigation option), interior illumination (ignition lock, driver's power window and mirror switches, steering wheel-mounted audio and cruise controls, glove compartment, ambient), optional navigation system on the top of the line Premium, integrated turn signals in power door mirrors, high-intensity discharge headlights on Premium model. Although the U.S. EPA lists the Civic as a subcompact car, the CSX could be listed as a subcompact car.
The resulting car is 62 to 88 kg heavier than the Civic EX sedan, with fuel consumption raised to 8.7 L city, 6.4 L highway per 100 km for manual model; and 9.5 L city, 6.5 L highway per 100 km for automatic model.
Note: The CD player is housed under the flip down screen with the navigation system.
In 2007, Automatic transmission, digital audio card reader are only offered with Navigation package.
[edit] Type-S
The Type-S variant debuted as a 2007 model and uses the identical drivetrain found in the US and Canadian market 2006+ Honda Civic Si which consists of a 2.0L, 197 horsepower i-VTEC engine (K20Z3), 6-speed manual transmission and helical limited-slip differential. The "sport-tuned" suspension is identical to the US-only 2007+ Honda Civic Si sedan with stiffer springs, firmer damping and thicker stabilizer bars compared to the regular CSX and is supported on 215/45R17 all-season tires. Unlike the Canadian market Civic Si coupe, the CSX Type-S employs Honda's version of traction control (Vehicle Stability Assist, or VSA) and brake assist. Other amenities include 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, rear wing spoiler with integrated LED brake light, fog lights, bilingual navigation system, a 350-[watt]7-speaker audio system, digital audio card reader, Type-S badging and illuminated foot wells.
Fuel consumption is 10.2L city, 6.8L highway per 100 km with a recommendation of Premium (91+ octane) fuel.
The 2007 CSX Type-S went on sale on November 6, 2006 with an MSRP of $33,400 Canadian.
