Adrian Mihalcea (born May 24th 1976 in Slobozia, Romania), is a Romanian international football player who currently plays with Aris Limassol in Cyprus.
Mihalcea has been capped 16 times for his country but never scored at international level.
He spent many years playing with one of the top Romanian teams, Dinamo Bucharest, where he won the Romanian First Division championship in 2000 and 2003 and also the Romanian Cup in 2000 and again in 2001.
Mihalcea started the 2001 season for Dinamo Bucharest in excellent form, scoring 11 goals in 14 league matches. This attracted the interest of Italian Serie B side Genoa 1893 and Mihalcea signed for the club in January 2002.
Mihalcea's excellent club form also earned him 5th place in the 2001 Romanian Footballer of the Year award.
The following season Mihalcea scored 9 goals in Serie B and was Genoa's leading goalscorer for the campaign. In summer 2003 the player was sold to fellow Serie B club Hellas Verona and he enjoyed another good season scoring 5 goals in 20 league matches for his new club.
In recent years Mihalcea's career has been in decline. A return to Dinamo Bucharest in 2004 was disappointing with the player struggling for goals as the team narrowly missed out on the Romanian championship.
Mihalcea was sold again to Romanian club FC Vaslui but again he struggled for goals and was dropped from the Romanian national squad due to his poor form and lack of goals.
In summer 2006 Mihalcea moved to Cypriot side Aris Limassol in an attempt to resurrect his career. Although his new club have been struggling in the league during the 2007 season, Mihalcea is currently 2nd in the Cypriot league goal scoring charts with 13 goals.
Adrian Mihalcea's international career with Romania has been a disappointment with the player failing to fulfil his early promise. He played 10 times for the Romanian under-21 team scoring 3 goals and was tipped to be a star of the future by Ilie Dumitrescu. Mihalcea was promoted to the Romanian international squad in 1998 but his performances were largely disappointing and he failed to score in 16 appearances. He was overlooked for the European Championships in 2000 and was last capped by Romania in 2003.
