Andover F.C. are an English football club based in Andover. They were established in 1883 and joined the Southern Football League Division Two in 1898. Although "officially" nicknamed "The Lions", they are sometimes known as "The Loonies" due to Andover's very famous workhouse, later an asylum.

[edit] History
The club was formed in 1883 and initially played in the Salisbury Football League, which they won seven times. They later progressed to the Hampshire League, where they were champions on five occasions.
In the 1962-63 season the club moved up to the Western League, and in their first season at this level reached the First Round of the FA Cup. In 1970-71, they finished runners-up and were promoted to the Southern League Division One South.
Andover voluntarily dropped down to the Wessex League in the 1993-94 season, where they remained until 2005-06 with the exception of one season (98/99) in the Southern League. In 2003-04, they reached the quarter-finals of the FA Vase, losing to Hampshire rivals Winchester City. Under the 2006 pyramid reorganizations, a third place finish in the Wessex League was good enough for promotion back to the Southern League. They are currently members of the Southern League Division One South and West.
[edit] Ground
The club moved to their new £850,000 Portway Stadium in 1989. It has a large main stand, hard standing and a clubhouse which regularly stages functions.
