[edit] About Yaga and Yajna
Hi,
The page Yaga has been redirected to Yajna by me because it is more appropriate. So what you had added about a different meaning of the word yaga can no longer find place there. I didn't know where to put it. Hope you can do whatever is necessary. KRS 17:54, 20 Nov 2003 (UTC)
- Maybe we should better make a links page (I don't remember how it's called in this system)? Just a page with 2 links - to Indian and to Russian variants? Arseni 21 Nov 2003
-
- I think you are thinking of a disambiguation page Dori 16:17, Nov 21, 2003 (UTC)
[edit] Redirects
Hi, you seem to be creating redirects to pages that don't exist. Perhaps you were going to create the pages later? If this is the case, it is best to create the redirects after you create the page, otherwise they show up as broken redirects and will be deleted. Angela 10:53, 25 Nov 2003 (UTC)
- Thank you for your caution, it's very sad to hear it. I places several 'red links' on some pages and then I understood that the name I selected for the article isn't good. By creating a redirect (from the bad name to a good one) I hoped to fix the problem. Because I've already forgotten where I have placed those links :o/ Arseni
[edit] Dictionary definitions
A few of the new pages you are creating seem to be more dictionary definitions than encyclopedia articles. Are you aware of the Wiktionary? --Robert Merkel 23:59, 26 Nov 2003 (UTC)
- Thank you for the link (I didn't heard about it), but I don't like dictionaries. Or rather I prefer encyclopedia. I create stubs for the present moment - hoping to improve them later (if somebody doesn't improve it before). Arseni 27 Nov 2003
[edit] Moscow and rivers
Hi, it's very exciting to have you adding material for Russia! My one-day visit to Moscow last August was far too brief. If you can take some pictures of the sights around town, that would be really great; a photo of the Kremlin from across the Moscow River would be a fine addition for instance (I saw the angle from a bus but couldn't stop, would have been much better for the encyclopedia than the shots I got). Also, on rivers, we typically capitalize the "River", because it's part of a proper name. There's no rule on to add "River" in the first place, but we would tend to do it if there were other things that shared the name, Sula for instance, or if it was part of common practice. Stan 17:34, 27 Nov 2003 (UTC)
- Thank you for your kind words =) I think when I buy a digital camera (and I hope to buy one by the end of summer 2004) I will contribute to Wikipedia with my images indeed.
- And what for rivers - yes, you are right, thank you. I possibly forgot about it. Arseni May 19, 2004
[edit] Long-term potentiation
Greetings, Arseni. I noticed on your user page that you are interested in the hippocampus, AMPA, and NMDA receptors. I couldn't help but wonder how you could leave out long-term potentiation! ;-) --Diberri | Talk 08:36, May 10, 2004 (UTC)
- Thank you for you help =) But practically I decided to give up with adding neuroscience stuff to the Wikipedia, it's too hard for my. And by the way I'm doing basically the same stuff on work (when writing articles), so it isn't really a good hobby - to write the same things again in another place =) I think I'd rather work with Russian culture and - especially - geography. It looks much more like a hobby =) Arseni May 19, 2004
[edit] user page interest list
receptors does not exist. receptor does. Badanedwa 17:06, May 14, 2004 (UTC)
- Thank you. It's my mistake. Arseni May 19, 2004
[edit] Article Licensing
Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:
- Multi-Licensing FAQ - Lots of questions answered
- Multi-Licensing Guide
- Free the Rambot Articles Project
To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:
- Option 1
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
OR
- Option 2
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)
[edit] Unverified image
Thanks for uploading the image
I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status? (You can use gfdl if you release it under the GFDL, or fairuse if you claim fair use, etc.) If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know where you got the image and I'll tag it for you. Большое спацибо, Kbh3rd 00:45, 16 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Sorry, I didn't add the correct tag for this image. It was taken from a Russian Nordic Image Bank that is sad to be 'public':
- Actually there are great problems with copyrights in Russia, because almost nobody worry about copyrights. From the one hand, that's fine since you can use images as you want if you feel that it fits with the basic idea of the place where you find it. For this particular place - it's perfectly OK. From the other hand, since nobody expect copyrights to be obeyed, almost nobody places clear statements about copyrights of their noncommercial projects.
- What for this image - they say that the project is 'public' (открытый). But they didn't explain what do the mean. I think that Wikipedia usage is OK. But it may be better to mark the picture GNU, not free. Arseni 9 April, 2005
[edit] Kalink(o/a)vichi
Hi there! Could you help us with the articles on Kalinkovichi and Kalinkavichy? We're not sure if it's the same place or not... Halibutt 06:30, Jan 19, 2005 (UTC)
- Hi! These are just 2 different transliterations of the same place (Russian and Belorussian).Arseni April 9, 2005
[edit] Creating Articles w/ Categories
Good work creating new articles. When you create things, it helps tremendously to assign them to an accurate category (see WP:CG for info). If you're really not sure about categories, at least assign your new articles a stub category (see WP:SC for info). By assigning a category, you help make sure your new articles don't get lost as 'orphans' that are not associated with related topics. Feco
[edit] Renaming Category:Orthodox Icons
Hi Arseni: See [1] I have nominated Category:Orthodox Icons for renaming as Category:Eastern Orthodox Icons. You need to be careful when using the name "Orthodox" because it can also be used to mean Orthodox Judaism whereas the name "Eastern Orthodoxy" is normally associated with the Eastern Orthodox Church. Thank you. IZAK 06:12, 12 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Thank you! That's a good idea, I didn't think about it. Arseni
[edit] Mossy fibers
Hi,
I've had a stab at starting this page up - but you look like a man who'd know more about them than I do. Take a look if you get a chance.
Thanks, Nick.
- Dear Nick, I'm afraid I'm left the field of neuroscience since I don't feel really keen of it any more. So don't think about me bad, but I won't write bout MF, sorry. Arseni
[edit] Russian notice board
Dear Arseni, don't forget to announce new Russia-related articles here. Best wishes, --Ghirlandajo 08:52, 12 August 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks, I didn't know about this page. Arseni 15:19, 12 August 2005 (UTC)
Actually, there is more. There is an entire Russia portal. A sort of get-together place for editors who contrubute to Russian, Soviet and East Slavic topic. Portal has TWO notice boards, one for new articles announcements mentioned earler by Ghirlandajo and the other for general discussion of interarticle and convention issues at Wikipedia:Wikiportal/Russia/Russia-related Wikipedia notice board. I would also kindly ask you to stop by at Ukraine portal with its two similar board. No matter of whether you want (which I hope) to contribute to UA-related articles, there are articles in UA-categories that belong to the common history of East Slavs. Cheers and thanks again! --Irpen 15:28, August 12, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Prostration
"Kowtow" is definitely NOT the right word, correct if at all only in Chinese contexts. The word 'prostrate' means to lay down on ones front, face down (supine means to lay down on one's back). As a bow, prostration is fully flat on the floor, you nose among the dust-bunnies. It's always been regarded with disdain in the West (even by Alexander's Macedonians); the only westerners to practice it regularly are priests as they get ordained, and other such religious: it is regarded as an extremely humiliating position, suited only for those who wish show just how humble they are. Heat prostration is the older term for heat exhaustion.--FourthAve 19:21, 23 August 2005 (UTC)
- Hi! Than we have to conclude that there's no correct word, since 'Zemnoy poklon' isn't a prostration. One kneels, then puts his hands before him (at a special little rug), than bows forward and touches his hand with his forhead. So it means that I should create a special article with a picture =) Thanks for a explanation! Arseni 19:40, 23 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Khovanshchina
You might take a look at The Khovansky Affair. Anyone who knows of this opera knows it under its Russian name, Khovanshchina. There seems to be a lot of wooden-headed translation going on. This opera, by the way, has an auto-de-fe of Old Believers. --FourthAve 23:29, 23 August 2005 (UTC)
- Hi! Thanks, but unfortunately I really hate opera =))) I adore music, almost all kinds of it, except opera. And, what's even more important, I don't know anything about Khovanshina. Sorry. Arseni 15:34, 24 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Pentarchy
Dear colleague, your struggle for Icon is appreciated. You might want to take a look at the Pentarchy, which is currently replete with ignorance and pro-Catholic propaganda. Details about the establishment of the Ecumenical patriarchate and the real status of the Patriarch of Jerusalem would be pertinant here. --Ghirlandajo 20:38, 14 September 2005 (UTC)
- Dear Ghirlandajo, thank you for your kind words, but unfortunately I don't know anything on this subject. Sorry =) Arseni 09:29, 17 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks
I would like to express my thanks to all the good people who spent their valuable time time and effort working on my (failed) RfA voting. Especially for those who actually voted to support me :). Lets move on and make together our Wikipedia an even greater place abakharev 09:57, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Russian bell ringing
I was making a small edit in Campanology article and I think it misses something. It seems to me that Russsian bell ringing tradition differs from the two described in "Campanology": Carillon ringing and Change ringing. If I am right, then I hope to have a pleasure to see a new article. Mukadderat 19:09, 19 January 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry, but I know almost nothing about bell-ringing. Arseni 15:36, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image:Donskoy new.jpg
I see you downloaded a new image, citing it as PD. Can you explain why do you think it is copyfree? If it is, we should remove {fairuse} tag. BTW, I have a couple of images taken in the monastery by myself last November but don't have time to process and upload these. --Ghirla | talk 10:41, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry, it looks like I forget to change tag into {PD-self}. That's a shot of my own, and so it's certainly free. Arseni 15:26, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
I believe you should download your image to Commons, where it will be available for a larger number of editors. If we don't use it in English wiki, someone may want to use it in alternative projects. --Ghirla | talk 15:41, 14 February 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not really familiar with Commons. But thank you for the adice, I'll try to find out something about it.

[edit] Thanks for your voting!
Hi, thanks for your voting on my RFA. It has finished with the result 88/14/9, and I am promoted. I am really overwhelmed with the amount of support I have got. With some of you we have edited many articles as a team, with some I had bitter arguments in the past, some of you I consider to be living legends of Wikipedia and some nicks I in my ignorance never heard before. I love you all and I am really grateful to you.
If you feel I can help you or Wikipedia as a human, as an editor or with my newly acquired cleaning tools, then just ask and I will be happy to assist. If you will feel that I do not live up to your expectation and renegade on my promises, please contact me. Maybe it was not a malice but just ignorance or a short temper. Thank you very much, once more! abakharev 07:34, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Tmb242019212.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Tmb242019212.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the GFDL-self tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fritz Saalfeld (Talk) 12:57, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
- Dear Fritz! Unfortunately the picture is already deleted, so I can't even understand what it was about. In general, I only upload the pictures of my own, but OK, it's deleted - so we can do nothing more. Sorry. Arseni 08:11, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
