[edit] History
The airline was founded in 1994 as Air Bosna. In the autumn of 2003, the airline ceased operations due to an increased debt that it could no longer repay. It remained defunct until May 2004, when the Council of Ministers promised to revive it. In June 2005, they restarted operations as B&H Airlines, operating a pair of ATR-72 aircraft.[citation needed] It is owned by the Government (51%) and Energoinvest (49%)[1].
There have been plans that B&H Airlines might take on a bigger aircraft shortly so they can commence some flights to destinations currently not possible, like those in Scandinavia. There are plans to open flights to Copenhagen, Oslo, Amsterdam and other destinations. B&H Airlines have 2 Airbus A319 aircraft on order which were originally made by Air Bosna. B&H Airlines intend to increase flights from their secondary hub, Banja Luka, but this will only happen if the airlines fleet increases and the flights receive enough passengers. 2 flights have recently been introduced to Istanbul with flights to Frankfurt and Cologne to follow shortly.[citation needed]
