Badluck Shelprock is a character from The Flintstones Comedy Hour that has since been assimilated into popular culture and become an icon and sterotype for unlucky or hapless indviduals. The Flintstones Comedy Hour was an hour-long Saturday morning cartoon anthology series produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions in 1972 for CBS. The term "Shelprock" can be understood to mean a person who is "unlucky," "unfortunate," or a "loser."[1] There is some argument that the origin could be a combination of the words "shamrock" and "shelp", the Yiddish word for haul. The term Shelprock was apparenlth applied to Irish laborers by the wealthy Yiddish speakers of New York beginnning in the mid 20th century.[2]
